Ho-Lotta Bassoon and Dinah Blowyourhorn To Host Ohio State’s School of Music’s 4th Annual Moffett GLBT Scholarship Concert, Part 2
The 4th Annual Mark Moffett, Jr. GBLT Scholarship Concert, Part 2 will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at 8 p.m. in Weigel Auditorium, 1866 College Rd, on campus. The School of Music at Ohio State has the only GBLT music scholarship in the world. The event is being co-sponsored by Outlook Media.
The concert will be hosted by two new diva sensations who also happen to be musical: Ho-Lotta Bassoon and her step-sister, Dinah Blowyourhorn
Music faculty, students, staff, and alumni volunteer to perform in this scholarship concert, which honors New York pianist Mark Moffett, Jr., who passed away in 2005 at age 40 from brain cancer caused by HIV. Moffett’s partner Paul Lockwood, a staff member in the School of Music, coordinates the event.
The March 5 concert date recognizes Moffett’s March 7 birthday, and the program includes a variety of solos, chamber groups, and ensembles offered in a fast paced “collage” format, with no applause between performances. The program will include a diverse selection – from Chopin to Rufus Wainwright to favorites from muscal theatre. The concert typically draws 60 or more faculty, staff, and student performers.
A donation of $10 is suggested for event admission.
The $1,500 annual Moffett scholarship is awarded annually to a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender music major. Based on artistic ability and social service, the scholarship is awarded with first preference to a piano major, second to a violin major, and third to all other music majors.
