| In Mickey's Own Words:
"As you can imagine, Southeastern Ohio is not the hotbed of LGBT outreach, support and education. I saw a need to work to change this over 15 years ago. I have been working to improve this ever since. Even though my current job is related to LGBT work, most of my volunteer efforts over the years have also centered around LGBT equality. In additional to my full-time job, I now also do outreach work and education programs as a consultant through my business, At the Crossroads. I have been committed to improving the quality of life for LGBT people since I really started coming out to others in 1989. I feel that I bring to Equality Ohio's Core Design Team compassion, commitment, organization, creativity, a rural perspective, public speaking and training experience, business and budgeting experience, board (local, state and national) experience, social justice and civil disobedience work, and a strong understanding of LGBT issues and people from a variety of perspectives. My hope is that Equality Ohio will succeed in our vision while bringing
the Ohio LGBT and Ally Community closer together. I further hope that
we focus our eyes on the prize and do not get side-tracked by our oppressors
or ourselves as other attempts to form a state-wide LGBTA equality organization
have failed because of these reasons. Let's focus on the big |
